Position Description

In this highly visible role, you will utilize your engineering and processing experience as well as your intuition to set and optimize the parameters of the diecasting cells: starting from the casting parameters, the thermal circuits, the spraying system, the robot, the quenching and the trimming.

This position requires minimal supervision and capability of training the other employees of the foundry.

You will have at your disposal a state-of-the-art in-house laboratory to support problems and issues resolutions and also an inhouse machining department for validating the results of the parts produced.

Job Responsibilities

Ø Stabilize, improve and standardize the existing HPDC processes, with the goal of reducing the scraps and improving the efficiency:

o Melting furnaces (how to tune them, clean them, degas the alloy and properly maintain them)

o Degassing of the alloy (how to tune them, clean them, degas the alloy and properly maintain them)

o Holding furnaces (how to tune them, clean them, degas the alloy and properly maintain them)

o Diecasting machines: program and optimize the parameters, optimize the runners, optimize the thermal systems by using the thermal camera, program and optimize the spraying, program and optimize the extracting robot, optimize the quenching

o Trimming machines: program and optimize the parameters.

Ø Prepare the requests for the optimizations/modifications of the dies.

Ø Participate in the choice of new investments

Ø Respond to immediate die casting concerns, as necessary.

Ø Responsible of performing continuous improvement activities and developing ideas on scrap reduction.

Ø Document any problems/occurrences related to die cast process control on the running history problems report and work through to resolve the problems and establish stability in the process.

Ø Responsible for process development and continuous improvement to reduce cycle times, die lubrication, scrap, etc.

Ø Manage the development of new products and processes being launched to die casting.

Qualifications, Competencies and Skills Required:

Ø Must have a bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering or other related discipline required, or at least 10 years’ experience in the process set and control of HPDC.

Ø Must be able to interpret technical drawings and geometrical tolerances.

Ø Must have working knowledge of technical drawing software, hydraulic and pneumatic.

Ø Requires analytical and problem-solving skills, to establish root cause and implement sustainable corrective actions.

Ø Must have good verbal and written communication skills and ability to communicate them clearly and effectively.

Ø Must be detail oriented with the ability to manage a variety of priorities.

Ø Demonstrates strong troubleshooting skills and ability to analyze and solve practical to complex problems.

Ø Willingness to take on responsibilities and challenges and enterprising attitude.

Work Environment

This job operates in a factory setting. This role might use standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets and fax machines. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently exposed to odors, fumes, dust or airborne particles, moving mechanical parts and vibration. The noise level in the work environment and job sites can be loud.

Physical Demands/Work Environment:

Ø Frequent exposure to indoor manufacturing environment.

Ø Able to Lift 80 pounds occasionally if needed.

Ø Occasional exposure to chemicals and fumes.

Ø Occasional exposure to moderate noise.

Ø Standing and walking throughout the workday.

Ø Constant wear of eye protection and PPE.

Position Type and Expected Hours of Work
This is a full-time position, and typical work hours and days are Monday through Friday, 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. Occasional evening and weekend work may be required as job duties demand.

Travel
Travel is primarily local during the business day, although some out-of-the-area, overnight, and/or international travel may be expected.
